In this blog post, we talk to Alina, who is doing an internship in Corporate Communications. She shares her experiences and insights into the exciting world of communication.
Hey, my name is Alina and I'm 27 years old. I live in Bamberg and am studying for a Master's degree in Communication Science. In my free time, I like to go to concerts, ride my bike, cook and spend a lot of time with friends. I also love dogs (especially dachshunds) and I'm very interested in interior design, which is why I regularly do assignments in four walls in my apartment.
Uni or office?
Office, although I do miss university from time to time.
Get up early or late?
Gladly late.
Beach or mountains?

Before my internship at BAUR, I worked as a student trainee in a content marketing agency for three years, so I really wanted to get a taste of the corporate world and try something new before finishing my studies. During my Master's degree, I also spent a lot of time working in corporate communications, which is why an internship in this area was the obvious choice. I discovered BAUR four years ago, quite traditionally via a job search on Google. Back then, I applied for an internship in online marketing - unfortunately in vain. Since then, I've honestly always had BAUR in the back of my mind, so I was all the more pleased that it worked out this time.
I am mainly responsible for internal communication, which means I create new articles for the intranet every day and update existing content to keep all colleagues up to date. But I also have a hand in some press releases or other external content. I edit the odd reel and create posts for our social media channels. I'm also often out and about with my cell phone to capture important events on camera. I'm also involved in the planning and implementation of events and campaigns, such as the panel discussion, the Christmas fundraising campaign, the New Year's reception and Stream4BG. Regardless of the task, I value the exchange with my colleagues the most.
I can't think of a specific task off the top of my head, but overall everything is really manageable. However, I found the pre-Christmas period the most challenging because so much happened at the same time and we had a lot of issues, some of which were unpleasant. Then there was the Christmas fundraising campaign, which we organized and carried out in a very short space of time. But in the end, I would say we managed these weeks well too.
I definitely enjoyed the internship and it helped me with my career orientation. I now know that I would rather work in a company than in an agency. Next up for me, however, is my Master's thesis, but I will also be staying with BAUR for another month as a working student. I also want to enjoy my last few months as a student before the world of work really starts waiting for me.
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you for the last few months, your flexibility and the trust you have placed in me. I have felt very comfortable here and have enjoyed working with so many different people and gaining new experiences in a corporate context.
