Today we would like to introduce you to Samuel. Samuel is currently completing a voluntary internship in Push Marketing and is also writing his Bachelor's thesis at our company.
Hi, I'm Samuel (nickname Samu). I live in Coburg and study business administration at the university there. I am currently writing my final thesis, which I will hand in in April. In my free time I like to listen to and make music.
I first came across the BAUR Group at a university fair. There was an intern from the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) department who raved to me about how great he thought the company was, that he was an important member of the team and that he really enjoyed it. I remembered that and applied for the same position for my mandatory internship semester. Fortunately, that also worked out.
After the 19 weeks of compulsory internship in online marketing, I did a voluntary internship in the area of push marketing, which also resulted in a topic for my Bachelor's thesis. Roughly speaking, it's about personalization in online stores. So I'm currently still doing my voluntary internship and am also in the final stages of writing my Bachelor's thesis.
I usually start work at 8 a.m., although the BAUR Group is also very flexible when it comes to the division of working hours. I usually have two meetings in the morning where my team and I discuss the status of individual tasks, for example. Afterwards, I actually go into daily business and do reporting for AdPushers or create new AdPushers, for example. These are the messages that you sometimes just get on your cell phone. Sometimes I also work on service mails with HTML and get to use various tools. Well, and then the day is usually over again.
I really enjoy working with HTML the most. I've never done that before and it's really cool when you can experiment with code and end up with something productive that you can look at.
I am given tasks that I can really work on independently. I am also responsible for these tasks, especially for ensuring that they are completed on time. This means I'm not just the intern I sometimes felt like in other companies, but really part of the team. I personally really like that.
One challenge for me is clearly that you don't have much direct contact with others because of corona. We meet regularly online, but of course it's not the same and I find it a bit difficult. Maybe also the fact that the corporate culture at the BAUR Group is so relaxed and I really had problems addressing my superiors directly :D. But there were/are no really bad challenges for me.
Thanks to the Anywhere Office, my workspace is sometimes in the living room and sometimes at the dining room table. I'm generally quite flexible, which is why I don't have a typical workspace. But no matter where I work, I always have a large glass of water next to me, a coffee and usually a pair of headphones for meetings.
After my internship, I still have one semester to go. However, I will already be applying for jobs in online marketing, preferably in the area of personalization.
