Internship in Purchasing - An interview with Sina
Internship in Purchasing - An interview with Sina

Today we would like to introduce you to Sina. She completed an internship in our Purchasing department. You can find out how she got there and what her exciting tasks were here.

Hey Sina, would you like to introduce yourself?

Hello, of course I would love to. I'm Sina, I'm from Bamberg and I'm 24 years old. I'm currently studying business administration in Bamberg. In my free time I like to do sports, such as bouldering. I also love cooking. I've been working in Purchasing at the BAUR Group since September 2021 and completed my mandatory internship in the toys, music, baby and toddler hardware, luggage and school department.

Why did you decide to do an internship in Purchasing?

I was actually looking specifically for an internship in Purchasing, as I majored in logistics and supply chain management during my studies. The internship was a perfect fit for me because the distance to Bamberg is not too great and I really liked the "you" culture and the open and relaxed atmosphere at the interview.

How can we imagine your internship? What were your tasks?

My daily tasks included answering and processing customer inquiries. I always dealt with these first thing in the morning. I also helped a lot with creating articles and writing texts for new articles. A large part of my job consisted of supporting the scheduling department. For the most part, I maintained the delivery dates and wrote to suppliers to check the availability of goods. I also carried out all other tasks.

What was your biggest challenge during your internship?

As my university doesn't offer an internship semester, I also had to juggle my studies during my full-time internship. That's why the biggest challenge for me was finding the motivation to do something for university after the working day.

After your internship, you were even taken on as a working student. How did this come about and what has changed for you as a result?

When my internship slowly came to an end, I looked around for a working student position in the Purchasing department. As I liked it here so much, I asked my department manager and the HR department about vacancies. The head of the Household and Lighting department then contacted me and asked if I would like to work as a student trainee in his department after my internship. I accepted straight away.

What else would you like to say?

I would like to thank my colleagues in the old department and now in the new one. I was very well accepted into the team and felt like I belonged right from the start. They also always took the time to answer my questions in detail. The internship at the BAUR Group was a great experience for me. The decision to work in the Purchasing department was therefore only confirmed, as I gained a very comprehensive insight into the processes and activities during my internship.
