Are you looking for a position with management responsibility in logistics? In this article on managerial logistics positions in the BAUR Group, you can find out which position suits you best.
Whether working with ABOUT YOU in Altenkunstadt or on a major new project in Sonnefeld: when it comes to logistics, we put our hearts and minds into it. In order to continue to meet the ever-increasing challenges, the BAUR Group is looking for reinforcements at various locations, from warehouse workers to managers.
Are you interested in a position with management responsibility in the logistics sector? Then now is the best time to apply to the BAUR Group. But with so many positions available, it's not always easy to know which job suits you best. In this blog post, we will therefore introduce you to various management roles in logistics at the BAUR Group and answer the most important questions about the positions. Maybe you'll be our next group leader?
As a group leader, you manage the teams belonging to your group and ensure that they work in a customer-oriented, timely, high-quality and cost-effective manner. You are responsible for the effective use of available capacities and resources: for example, you manage the processing of the volume of work, plan the deployment of personnel and monitor quality and compliance with legal requirements, among other things.
You are also the process optimizer of your group: you constantly analyze logistical processes and try to improve them. However, you also come into contact with your employees, for example through discussions on criticism, promotion or optimization. You also guide the shift leaders who manage the individual teams in your group. You will coordinate with other work areas in order to achieve optimal cooperation.
You should have a degree in a relevant subject or, alternatively, a comparable vocational qualification including further training. You also need many years of relevant professional and management experience. Your organizational skills and ability to see the big picture are just as important as a strong customer and service orientation, as service level agreements are always the focus of your actions in logistics. As a manager, you should of course also have strong interpersonal skills. You should therefore be able to deal with different characters, lead the managers who report to you and involve them in your decision-making. You should also be able to set measurable goals and structure complex tasks and processes for your group in such a way that they are understandable for employees and goals are achieved. You can convey information in a targeted manner and motivate your employees. You should be familiar with the concept of error culture, because at the BAUR Group we address mistakes openly and try to learn from them.

Completed vocational training including further training and many years of professional and management experience are also a prerequisite here. You should also be comfortable with strategic action based on processes and key figures. After your induction, you should have internalized the processes in your area of responsibility as well as the day-to-day business of your team. Part of your daily work will be to coordinate with other departments, but also with your employees, or to pass on information to the right target group. You should therefore be a good communicator. You should also be able to deploy your employees according to their abilities.
The deputy shift manager handles the operational tasks that arise in logistics and supports the shift manager in implementing the agreed targets. You are permanently present at the scene of the action, i.e. with your employees on the floor. You are always the contact person and enabler for your employees and support them.
In addition to training new colleagues and conducting feedback meetings, you are a knowledge broker: you gather information and interesting facts and pass them on to your employees. If necessary, you will also stand in for your shift supervisor and take on the associated management tasks.
In addition to your training and many years of work experience, you will need some experience in managing large teams to start as a deputy shift manager. In your work here, it will be important to speak to employees in a goal-oriented manner. Your communication skills should therefore be particularly strong.
