Leonie's internship in online marketing
Leonie's internship in online marketing

Today we would like to introduce you to Leonie. Over the past six months, she has completed an internship in online marketing with us at the BAUR Group. In the interview, she tells us more about herself and her experiences.

Hi Leonie, can you briefly introduce yourself?

I'm Leonie, 22 years old and I'm from Bamberg. I'm studying sports economics in Bayreuth and started my internship in online marketing at BAUR in February. In my free time, I like doing sports - especially dancing and climbing. Apart from that, I like everything that has to do with creativity.

Why did you decide to do an internship with the BAUR Group?

When I came across the BAUR Group's vacancies while looking for an internship, I first found out about the company. For example, it was very important to me that the working atmosphere was right and not too tense. During my research, I read a lot of things that I really liked, e.g. sustainability aspects and the cultural change within the corporate group. So from the entrepreneurial side, it was already a good fit. But the position in online marketing with the combination of numbers and creative work also sounded very good to me. Well, and then I simply applied and luckily I was accepted.

What are your tasks?

During my internship, I work in two different teams. In the Display and Retargeting team, it's mainly about creating campaigns, i.e. creating or selecting advertising media and texts, and adapting them to the current season or product range.

In the Search team, it's about day-to-day operational tasks such as account hygiene, researching key words and correcting error pages. On the other hand, I am currently involved in the SA 360 project. This is a new campaign tool that we can use to set up our own campaign structure. There are quite a few subtasks, such as creating texts or programming formulas. That takes up most of my time at the moment.

And then there are my routine tasks in both teams, such as reporting and managing various campaigns, partners and accounts for I'm walking and BAUR.

How do you structure yourself with all these tasks?

Some of my tasks are scheduled. Reporting, for example, is always in the morning and therefore a good start to the day. In the SA 360 project, I work together with a team colleague, so we have a few appointments every week to coordinate. I work through everything else that remains according to priority. That also works very well.

What do you like best about your internship?

The variety of tasks and the fact that the two different teams give me a lot of insight into different areas. I also like working in a team because the atmosphere here is just great and I was made to feel very welcome right from the start. I also received regular feedback during my internship, so I was able to constantly improve. And of course the flexible working hours and the Anywhere Office are also very relaxed.

What challenges did you face during your internship?

Although I was able to fit in well with my team and the tasks despite working in the Anywhere Office, I think it would have been a lot easier if we could have just chatted to each other in the office. It's also easier to nudge a colleague and ask a question. With Microsoft Teams, you're more likely to think again about actually writing a text.

Can you describe your internship in three words?
  1. Fun
  2. Diversity
  3. Growth (professional and personal)
What's next for you?

I will continue to work at BAUR as a working student and write my bachelor's thesis on the side. 😊

Is there anything else you would like to say?

I wanted to say thank you for the great time, although luckily I still have a bit of time left at BAUR. It's crazy how much an internship can help you. I wouldn't have guessed that at the beginning.

Thank you very much, dear Leonie, for this interview. We look forward to working with you in the future and wish you every success with your Bachelor's thesis 🙂
