The BAUR trainees have been running their own online store for some time now. What exactly is behind this is presented in detail in the article. An interview with the apprentices Paula, Julia and Marius from the B.Our Shop team will give you additional personal insights.
The "B.Our Shop" has been available to all employees of the BAUR Group since January 8, 2019. The online store was created by trainees themselves and has been operated continuously ever since. It offers the opportunity to purchase selected sample items from the BAUR Group's purchasing departments at low prices. These can be shoes, hardware, jewelry, bags or even clothing from the company's own range. However, the platform offers not only that, but also BAUR stuff (e.g. embaurment T-shirts), search & offer, DIY and apartment ads. Employees can also post offers online themselves - from carpooling to discarded clothes to homemade handicrafts.
In addition, the B.Our Shop team plans and organizes a number of participatory campaigns on various occasions. One example of this is the traditional BAUR Group and NICI fundraising campaign, which the B.Our team coordinates and carries out every year to support the regional food banks. But there have also been some exemplary projects on the subject of sustainability, such as the sale of the company's own apple juice. You can find out more about the apple juice campaign, the design competition and the sustainability package here.
The team currently consists of 15 trainees from various professions who carry out various activities relating to the store. The activities are divided into IT & finance, media design, sample articles, apartment advertisements and newsletters. We spoke to three trainees about their tasks.
IT/Finance: Marius Münch (businessman for digitization management)
In the finance department, I am responsible for ensuring that all payments are made correctly and that they are also documented in the monthly report. As Co-Head of the B.Our Shop, I organize and coordinate almost all major projects with Franziska Gritzke. This means holding meetings, discussing and implementing them.
Carrying out a large project successfully. For a concrete example: collecting apples, pressing them, organizing a bag design contest and then presenting the prize to the winner.
We have a regular meeting every week in which we discuss current and future projects. The individual activities are then organized by the teams themselves or together.
The IT/Finance team is also responsible for answering customer queries relating to IT issues, managing the database, developing the web interface and creating card numbers for new employees.
Media design: Julia Winkelhaus (Digital & Print Media Designer)
Together with my media designer colleague Amelie, I am responsible for all design tasks. For example, we take care of the design of the newsletter. Posters for upcoming projects also fall within our remit.
We, media designers, have only recently joined the store team, but I still have the feeling that the store teaches me a lot about organizing projects.
The store is run by motivated 1st and 2nd year apprentices. Every year, a new team is formed that can implement its own projects.
Sample article: Paula Radler (businesswoman for e-commerce)
My area of activity is sample articles. Together with 2 colleagues, I take care of procuring and entering the goods. When an item is sold, we coordinate the handover and either leave the package with us at reception or send it by internal mail. When hard goods such as tumble dryers, beds, shelves etc. are purchased, the handover takes place directly on site together with us and a colleague from the sample department.
We also deal with all customer inquiries relating to orders in the B.Our Shop and manage our email inbox.
What I enjoy most is working in a team and organizing and carrying out our projects. I also think it's great that we can make our own decisions and therefore work independently.
The store has not only enabled me to develop my personal skills, but also to get to know the e-commerce process at first hand. The project also strengthened teamwork and networking within the company.
Apartment ads
The B.Our Shop offers a platform for apartment advertisements, which are managed by a small team. The trainees compile details about the apartments and place the ads online in the staff store. They also answer emails from interested parties and place apartment ads with the help of a colleague from the
Newsletter
To keep employees informed about the latest offers in the store, the B.Our Shop newsletter team sends a newsletter to all company employees by email within a certain period of time.
