The international DUOday took place on Thursday, September 19, and we took part for the first time as the BAUR Group. The aim of this day is to break down barriers, overcome prejudices and promote professional inclusion. You can find out more about DUOday in this blog post.
What happens on DUOday?
Companies and public institutions open their doors to people with disabilities on DUOday. On this day, an employee and a person with a disability form a DUO. He*she actively participates (as far as possible) in the usual tasks of the employees.
We had the pleasure of welcoming dear Mariella to our home
Mariella is 16 years old, comes from Weismain and is graduating from secondary school in Altenkunstadt this school year. She enjoys working on her PC in her free time and is interested in training in the commercial sector.
She was able to spend half a day immersed in the exciting world of e-commerce at empiriecom. Among other things, our colleagues Aileen and Paula showed her the online store and explained how web stores can be adapted to customers' needs with the help of testing. She was also spontaneously lucky enough to be allowed to take a look at the shoe sample room.
We rounded off DUOday with lunch together in our canteen - with a currywurst, of course. We are excited to see where Mariella's career will take her and wish her all the best!
Conclusion
Mariella found it really great and interesting with us.
For Paula, it was exciting to give an insight into her field of work in simple language.
Aileen thinks it's great that she was able to give someone a nice day out.
