Logistics with heart and hand: four questions for Group Manager Katrin
Logistics with heart and hand: four questions for Group Manager Katrin

Our hard-working logistics staff are at the heart of our online store. With their outstanding work, they ensure that the goods get to the right place at the right time. "Logistics with heart and hand" is the motto that we live by in our logistics department.

The BAUR Group's logistics department has been shipping parcels, optimizing processes and making customers happy since 1925. In order to meet these challenges in the future, the BAUR Group is looking for reinforcements at the Altenkunstadt, Sonnefeld and Weismain sites. Whether you are a logistics professional, a newcomer or a career changer, we offer targeted induction programs, friendly teams, shopping discounts and much more. But what makes Logistics so special as an employer? We asked our colleague Katrin Repper for an interview.

Katrin, you work as a group leader in the picking warehouse. What does your work as a manager look like?

Katrin: Without our hard-working helpers in logistics, our core business at the BAUR Group - online retail - simply wouldn't work. People are at the forefront of what we do, and mutual support and trust are a matter of course.
We therefore want to convey that all employees can approach us managers with their wishes and suggestions and naturally try to take these into account. Lukas, for example, first worked in dispatch and then proactively approached his superiors because he wanted to change careers.

We have already interviewed Lukas (truck driver for the BAUR Group) for our blog in the past. This is what he says about his career change:

"Since I got a truck driver's license as part of my membership in the volunteer fire department, I wanted to use it professionally as well. So I took the initiative and asked my bosses if I could also work as a truck driver for the BAUR Group. And that was made possible for me."

Why should applicants choose the logistics division of the BAUR Group?

Katrin : I was given a lot of trust right from the start, so I was also able to develop personally. My job is also very varied, with new challenges every day. You spend a lot of time on the road and see with your own eyes how concepts become reality.

Perhaps we can also dispel a prejudice here: our logistics locations are not just about transporting heavy parcels. Especially in the picking warehouse, the coordination between fast reading and finding the goods is very important. Logistics at the BAUR Group is therefore not a "male domain". All applicants have the chance to find the right job with us.

What makes the BAUR Group's logistics department stand out as an employer?

Katrin: We are a very open company and are now also a fairly young division. In previous years, the average age was higher, but this has now changed. Many young people have joined us, some of whom only wanted to work in logistics for a short time and then stayed. The teamwork and collegial exchanges make everyday working life very exciting time and time again. At the Sonnefeld site, for example, we have employees from 21 different countries.

What advice would you give potential applicants?

Katrin : My boss Stephan Fischer always says "just do it". And I like to pass that on directly to the applicants: just have the courage to send in your application and get a taste of what it's like. We also offer information sessions in advance for all interested parties to get to know the logistics locations. My motto is to put all preconceptions aside and try something new. Maybe then, as in my case, ten years have passed quickly because you have discovered logistics as the ideal job for you. Regardless of whether someone joins us on a temporary basis or wants to stay long-term, we welcome every application.
